Host Towns forthe Pre-Games Training Camps

During the Tokyo 2020 Games, athletes from many countries and regions will be holding their pre-Games training camps in Shizuoka Prefecture.
Many cities and towns in the prefecture have also taken this opportunity to register as host towns.
Shizuoka Prefecture offers abundant nature, warm weather and great access to Tokyo, so athletes can practice and train under ideal conditions here.

Pre-Games Training Camps

What are Pre-Games Training Camps?

Pre-Games training camps will be held in Japan to prepare athletes for the time difference and local climate, etc., before the Games begin. 15 cities in Shizuoka Prefecture have already signed an MOU (memorandum of understanding) to host pre-Games training camps for 13 countries and regions, and other cities and towns here are also taking steps to attract pre-Games training camps.

Host Towns

What are Host Towns?

The Host Town Initiative aims to revitalize regional areas while creating lasting exchange programs and relationships that will endure long after the Tokyo 2020 Games have ended. It encourages interactions in a wide array of fields such as sports, culture and economics, etc., with people from the countries and regions participating in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
There are 17 cities and towns in Shizuoka Prefecture registered with the central government as host towns for 15 countries and regions.
